During the first weekend of March, we set off for Mariánské Lázně – a town that retains its unique charm even at the very beginning of spring. Although the weather was still slightly wintry, the spa atmosphere, peaceful parks and elegant architecture provided the perfect setting for both relaxation and exploration.
The first place we visited was the colonnade of the Karolina and Rudolf springs. Another memorable experience was the Koliba – Krakonoš cable car, which took us up to higher ground above the town. The views of the surrounding landscape were well worth it – hills covered with patches of snow and the quiet countryside created a very calming impression.
The main reason for taking the cable car, however, was the Boheminium Miniature Park. In one place, we were able to admire remarkably precise scale models of important Czech landmarks. On our way back down to the town, we also stopped at the Panorama (Hamelika) lookout tower, from which we enjoyed a beautiful view over the whole of Mariánské Lázně and its wider surroundings. The walk up was not entirely easy, but the view at the top was certainly worth the effort.
Over the course of the weekend, we also visited the Maxim Gorky Colonnade and the Cross Spring. The atmosphere of the spa town was further enhanced by the local fountains, which, even outside the main season, felt elegant and tranquil.
The entire weekend unfolded at a gentle pace, filled with walks and exploration. Mariánské Lázně impressed us with its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful architecture and surrounding nature. It was the perfect short escape from everyday hustle and bustle – and certainly a place we would gladly return to in another season.
