Hochgurgl – Austria

1.3. – 5.3.2017 Austria Abroad

After many years we again visited on skis in Austria, specifically to the ski area Ötztal | Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. The site is located in Tyrol, near the border with Italy and belongs to one of the largest and with 60 peaks higher than 3000 meters for the highest Austrian ski areas. There are more than 140 km of perfectly groomed ski slopes from the most demanding black on the Gaislachkogl to the "training meadows" over Giggijochem. Slope from the Schwarze Schneid to the station in valley includes a length of 12.8 kilometers and an elevation of 1880 m the longest in Austria. The area is also famous for the discovery of the legendary Ötzi, 5,000 year-old mummy of a warrior from the Stone Age.
