Iceland

24.3. – 28.3.2016 Iceland Abroad

The Easter season has accumulated this year for the first time four days off. Of the many places where we have not been yet and we have in our plan to visit sometime in the future, we chose destination Island. The original plan was to photograph of the aurora, but due to the low level of intensity it failed, but we saw many wonderful places. And thanks to the beautiful weather we had here three amazing days. We made it a lot; we drove more than 1,300 kilometers and I think, that we saw "all the best" southern parts of the country. Many beautiful waterfalls, geysers amazing, wonderful mountains etc. The landscape is totally different from what we've seen elsewhere.

Iceland is a state on the island with same name and is laceted between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. Here live over 300,000 people, its area is 103,125 square kilometers, which means it is the most sparsely populated European country. The largest and also the capital city is Reykjavik. The island is volcanically active. In the interior of island are lava fields, mountains and glaciers. Island shores are washed by the Gulf Stream, which significantly affects the climate. Volcanic activity is closely related to the thermal springs and geysers. A typical accompaniment to the volcanic activity is the presence of mud volcanoes, smelling hydrogen sulfide solfatara and fumaroles.
