Abroad
I know that we were in the same place and practically at the same time last year. But due to the travel situation and the problems associated with it, which have not really changed at all compared to last year (and in many ways it is perhaps even worse), we have again chosen the same place. This time we rented a house almost in the very heart of the port and tourist town of Makarska.
The sunny and busy center of Dalmatia attracts you not only with a large pebble beach, palm trees on the waterfront, or a number of great cafes and restaurants, but above all the unmissed but picturesque Biokovo mountains above it. Makarska is located about 459 km south of Zagreb, 60 km southeast of Split and 140 km northwest of Dubrovnik. The town is located on a narrow coastal strip in the foothills of the Biokovo mountains. Some parts of the city are located at an altitude of up to 300 m above sea level. And in many places it is a lot uphill from the sea. Makarska has a Mediterranean climate. In summer, average temperatures are around 30 °C, often around 35 °C, at night around 25 °C. In winter, frequent temperatures range from 10 to 15 °C, at night between 6 and 10 °C. Due to the coastal climate and the fact that it is located almost in the very south of the country, Makarska is one of the warmest places in Croatia. And also to one of the most visited. In the high season, the number of people in Makarska often increases by tens of thousands of tourists. And it is not only the Biokovo mountains that attract a huge number of people here every year, but also the clear sea, quality accommodation and, last but not least, great food.
