Switzerland

1.7. – 9.7.2017 Switzerland Abroad

Very beautiful, very clean, but also very expensive country in Europe. Our journey started at the airport in Zurich and led to two of the most famous places; to Interlaken, specifically to Wengen and to Zermatt.

The town of Interlaken and its surroundings offer tourists a great deal of attractions. The largest and probably the most famous is, of course, the magnificent Jungfrau (4158 m above sea level) and the Jungfraujoch saddle (3450 m above sea level). But the places we visited here were much more, such as the Männlichen, the surroundings of Lake Bachalpsee, Aare Gorge, Reichenbach Falls and St. Beatus Caves. Other famous peaks of the Bernese Alps are Eiger and Mönch. This whole area is also linked to the term "Top of Europe". The "highest in Europe" is not the Jungfraujoch saddle, but above all the regular railway station of the same name, which is carved into the rock under Sphinx. The altitude of this station is 3454 meters above sea level.

Zermatt is a small town in the area of Vispa in the German speaking part of the canton of Valais (German Wallis). The small town is at the end of the Matter Valley (German Mattertal) at an altitude of 1620 m above sea level. Zermatt is almost completely surrounded by the high mountains of the Wallis Alps. Among them is the highest peak in Switzerland, Monte Rosa (Dufourspitze) (4634 m above sea level). Other high mountains are Dom (4545 m), Lyskam (4527 m), Weisshorn (4505 m) and Matterhorn (4478 m above sea level). From Zermatt also leads the railway to the Gornergrat ridge. Other interesting spots in the area are Klein Matterhorn and Schwarzsee.

Switzerland offers many attractions to tourists and not only to them. This is just a small list of interesting places from the two most famous areas of this small European state. But Switzerland has many more places. On the one hand, tourism is often very demanding, but on the other hand there are trains and the most famous tourist sites still full of tourists and eager visitors.
