This trip was actually a continuation of our previous visit to the Netherlands. In a way, we more or less picked up where we left off last time. We skipped the capital city of Amsterdam and during our weekly stay we visited other – although less well known, but all the more magical – places in the Netherlands. They were the cities of Alkmaar, Petten aan Zee, Zaandam, The Hague, Volendam, Hoorn, Utrecht, Keukenhof Park, Zaanse Schans open-air museum, Madurodam amusement park, Artis Zoo in Amsterdam, De Haar Castle and Zee Aquarium. Each of these amazing places is unique, but at the same time each of them is typical of the Netherlands.
And although we were originally looking forward to seeing a field of blooming tulips during our trip, this year's long winter caused fields of hyacinths to grow instead of blooming tulips at this time. Fortunately, this unexpected situation for us was saved by the Keukenhof Park, which is one of the most famous, the most visited and the largest flower parks in the Netherlands and the whole of Europe.
However, this does not change the fact that our visit to the Netherlands was an unforgettable experience for us and we will probably return here again in the future to pick up where we left off.
