Hohe Tauern and Salzkammergut Mountains – Alps – Austria

14.9. – 20.9.2014 Austria Abroad

A wonderful holiday in the Austrian Alps – that was the week from 14.9. until 20.9. We spent the first four nights in the magical landscape of the Hohe Tauern. During these wonderful days, we climbed the three highest nearby peaks in the vicinity of the town of Bad Gastein. Whether by cable car, on foot or a combination of both, it was really beautiful on all three, and from each of them we had a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape with the snowy peaks of distant peaks. They were Stubnerkogel, Fulseck and Schlossalm. Although all three peaks were at a similar altitude, each of them surprised us with its uniqueness and originality. In some places there was already snow, in others bare rocks; somewhere rich forests, somewhere else only stones, etc. Lakes are a completely amazing element of the local landscape; so blue and clean you can probably only find it here.
For the rest of the holiday, we then moved to an equally beautiful landscape, to the Salzkammergutberge region, specifically to the town of Gosau. On the way to Gosau, we also took a trip to the local Liechtensteinklamm gorge. In the Salzkammergutberge landscape, we visited, among other things, the surroundings of Lake Hallstatt and Lake Gosausee, but above all the well-known viewpoint of this area known as the "Five Fingers" located on top of Krippenstein. The entire vacation was simply amazing and thanks to the beautiful weather throughout the week, this vacation became another unforgettable experience.
