Fortress Königstein and table mountain Lilienstein – Germany

7.5.2016 Germany Abroad

It was a great day trip! And if in addition to adding beautiful weather, then no problem. From Prague it's here about an hour and a half and views of the fort and its surroundings are absolutely fabulous.

Fortress Königstein – one of the biggest mountain fortresses in Europe – lies in the middle of Elbe sandstone on the table mountain Königstein above the village on the left bank of the Elbe district Saxon Switzerland.

Lilienstein is 415 meters high table mountain in Saxon Switzerland in Germany, towering above the valley of the River Elbe. Located near the village Waltersdorf, 15 km east from the town of Pirna and 5 km west of Bad Schandau. Lilienstein is a symbol of Saxon Switzerland National Park. On the top platform is 16 meters tall obelisk.
