Salzburg, Hallstätter See, Lake Wolfgang, Mondsee, Attersee – Salzkammergut – Austria

27.12.2022 – 1.1.2023 Austria Abroad

After three long years, we once again spent Christmas and New Year somewhere other than in the Czech Republic. We spent the time around Christmas in Livigno, in Italy, and at the end and turn of the year, we moved to Austria to the city of Salzburg.

The Salt Chamber region, also known as the Salzkammergut, is a wonderful corner of the country located near the city of Salzburg, but mainly it is an area located near the Czech Republic. This is an area extending in central Austria on the territory of the federal states of Salzburg, Upper Austria and Styria, in the Northern Limestone Alps. An unmistakable and typical characteristic of the area here are the beautiful lakes. Among the most beautiful and also the most famous are Lake Wolfgang, Hallstätter See, Traunsee and Mondsee. But there are many more of these lakes.
The Salt Chamber area is undoubtedly one of the most visited areas in Austria. No wonder – magnificent alpine peaks, amazing lakes and charming towns capture the heart of every traveller. And it's not far from the Czech Republic!
