28.4. – 1.5.2012 Austria Abroad

Kalkalpen National Park – once again one of those wonderful places on our planet. This time, however, a place located outside the Czech Republic, located not far from the border, approximately 190 km from České Budějovice. Breathtaking natural scenery, mountains that we don't have here, lakes with crystal clear water, but also kind and pleasant people – all this and much more makes Austria a very attractive tourist area.
The Limestone Alps National Park (Nationalpark Kalkalpen in German) covers an area of 208.56 km² in the mountain region of the Upper Orakous foothills. It consists of two parts, the Reichraminger Hintergebirge mountain forest area and the Sengsengebirge mountain massif. The highest peak is the Hoher Nock with a height of 1963 m above sea level.
The park is home to 30 species of mammals, 80 species of nesting birds and 1,500 species of butterflies. In addition, there are over 1,000 species of flowering plants, ferns and bryophytes.
There is no need to elaborate further on this beautiful landscape, it must be visited. However, you can view the attached photos to get a first impression.
