27.1.2024 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

The Klostermann Lookout Tower is located on Javorník Mountain (1066 m above sea level) near the village of Vacov in Šumava. The lookout tower measures 39.6 m and was built in 1938. There are 197 steps leading to the top. It served the tourist public from the end of the Second World War until the 1980s, when it was deprived of its view by growing trees. In 2003 it was raised by a superstructure and since then it has been reopened to the public. The lookout tower offers a circular view of the Šumava Mountains (Boubín, Poledník, Přílba), Horažďovicko and Strakonicko, and in good visibility also of the Alps, almost 200 km away, or the Cukrák transmitter near Prague.
