The town of Janské Lázně (German Johannisbad, Polish Jańskie Łaźnie) is located in the district of Trutnov, in the Hradec Králové region. It has about 700 inhabitants. The local spa is accompanied by a long-standing reputation as one of the best spa facilities in the Czech Republic. The local spa has gained a worldwide reputation for its successful treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, including post-injury conditions and surgeries, especially polio treatment. Excellent results are also achieved here in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma, or conditions after airway surgery and oncological diagnoses.

Jánské Lázně is also an ideal starting point for sports and recreational activities in the Giant Mountains. In winter, it is one of the most popular ski resorts in the Czech Republic. For the rest of the year, it serves as a perfect starting point for trips to the Krkonoše National Park.

The nearest and also the most famous surrounding peak is Černá hora. You can get to Černá hora by cable car from Janské Lázně. Černá hora with its height of 1300 m is not one of the highest peaks in the Krkonoše Mountains, but with a prominence of 215 meters (elevation from the saddle with Liščí hora above Hrnčířské Boudy) it is the third most prominent mountain in the Giant Mountains and thus belongs to the local landmarks. The mountain is forested, on the slopes there are mountain buildings and several ski slopes. Not far from the top, it is possible to visit the Černohorské rašeliniště, which is very popular with tourists.

Another interesting attraction is the Treetop Trail. The trail ends with a lookout tower 45 meters high, has a unique underground cave and offers not only a pleasant walk with lots of interesting information, but also a breathtaking view of the beautiful landscape of the Krkonoše National Park but also the city as such.
