ZOO Děčín in winter

14.2.2015 Czechia Fauna and Flora

Although the forecast for Saturday predicted sunny skies for the Ústí Region, it was not the case in reality. Thanks to the unpleasant and inclement weather, a visit to the zoo in Děčín became just a walk in this inclement weather. And despite this, or rather precisely because of this, several more or less local, I mean European, species of animals could be seen in the ZOO.
Děčín Zoo is a zoological garden with an area of 6 ha located on the outskirts of Děčín in the north-western part of the city of Podmokly, and with its small area it is therefore one of the smaller zoos in the Czech Republic. It is located on the Pastýřská stěna hill, surrounded by the city's forest park. The zoo currently keeps around 150 species of animals, among which there are also highly endangered species listed in the Red Book of Endangered Animals.
