15.10.2011 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

Roklan (German Großer Rachel, in Czech Roklan was sometimes also called Hora nad Roklí or Rokelská hora) is, with its 1453 m, the second highest mountain in Šumava and the Bavarian Forest. It is located in the central part of the German side of the mountain range, not far from the border with the Czech Republic, southwest of Modrava. The mountain has the shape of a ridge stretching in the southeast-southwest direction and on which, in addition to the main peak, there is also a second peak called Malý Roklan (Kleiner Rachel) 1399 m high. On the south side, with good visibility, it is possible to observe the panorama of the northern peaks of the Alps. In the east, for example, Poledník Hill, Kašperk Castle, Antýgl, the Boubín massif and the peak of Bobík are easily visible.
