Alaska

25.8. – 11.9.2016 USA Alaska Abroad

If all of our foreign trips were amazing this year and each visit unique destinations, then to Alaska even more so. Alaska belongs with its beautiful and breathtaking scenery to the true jewels of the planet Earth and also the highlights of our previous travel adventures. Unforgettable experiences accompanied basically our whole journey. Wonderful weather and a colorful autumn in addition contributed to the fact that we'd brought not only great memories but also incredibly beautiful photos. The greatest experiences about indisputably belonged to the immediate observation of large males of Alaska moose in Denali National Park and watching of fishing brown bears in Katmai National Park. But those experiences were of course much more. Starting with magnificent views of the highest mountain in all of North America – Denali, better known under its former name Mount McKinley; continuing observing the auroras around Fairbanks or by observing the tongues of the glaciers in the nearby town of Homer and ending with the shooting of large mammals and birds. Among the most prominent were, besides the above-mentioned Alaskan moose and brown bears, also brown bears – grizzly, black bear, deer wapiti, polar reindeer, rock eagles and bald eagles, seals, sea lions, whales, marmots and rescue station also muskoxen. Several times we drove or walked part of Denali National Park and also completed about an 8-hour bus ride through it, or in its center (otherwise than by bus or on foot into its interior does not get). Twice we sail boat at sea whale watching and other marine animals and on the way we saw a gorgeous nooks and amazing glaciers ending in the crystal clear sea. We also took advantage of one of the most preferred means of intercity transport, i.e. seaplane, to get to Katmai National Park, which is a known place for watching of the fishing brown bears. Breathtaking experience was also watching the sun set over the mountain peaks, and incredible views of the "rainbow mountains" in Denali National Park, and also to see the north of Greenland from the window of the plane.

This country had for us only two negatives. The first was the food, mainly due to the fact that most of the local dishes had a basis in fast food. And if the man had a taste for something else – for example, dishes from sea food – it was outrageously expensive. And that brings us to the second negative, the local prices. Really high prices are related to everything – accommodation, expensive trips and the aforementioned food. Nevertheless, I must once again repeat that our trip to Alaska was and still is one of the highlights of our previous travel adventures.
