Croatia

30.5. – 6.6.2009 Croatia Abroad

The second place, which I already mentioned in the article about Corfu, is Croatia.

Croatia is a country that was created after the breakup of the former Yugoslavia and was already a popular tourist destination. Geographically, it is located on the border of Central and South-Eastern Europe, its shores are washed by the Adriatic Sea, which for several years has been one of the most visited seas by tourists from the Czech Republic, and the most in Croatia. In fact, the entire very beautiful and rugged Adriatic coast with numerous islands is very attractive, as well as the historic cities of Rijeka, Split, Zadar, Makarska or the capital Zagreb and others, or the breathtaking natural parks located inland. The most famous of them include the Plitvice Lakes – a system of lakes in the limestone landscape, as well as Krka National Park, Paklenica National Park and Kornati National Park. Croatia's Adriatic coast is extremely rugged, which adds to its charm and picturesqueness. In places where the coast is limestone, the banks are high, steep, rocky, and beautiful; in flysch areas the coast is low and sandy. It is there that the most beautiful beaches are, e.g. on the Makarska Riviera. You can also enjoy your vacation on one of the many islands lining the coast of Croatia. The largest islands include Krk, Cres, Brač and Hvar.
