Krkonoše | Giant Mountains

6.6. – 8.6.2014 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

In almost any weather, our highest mountain is a big attraction for tourists. In addition, when the weather is beautiful, the road to the top is filled with so many people that queues form in many places and there is hardly anywhere to sit at the top. And it's not just tourists from the Czech Republic, on the contrary, the vast majority are foreigners, especially Poles. But of course there are plenty of Czechs here too, especially those who get here with the help of the cable car leading from Pec pod Sněžkou. Several marked hiking trails lead to the top; however, you won't meet many tourists on the way to Obří důl. The journey through the Obří důl is one of the most demanding, much easier if you skip the cable car journey, for example you can get to Sněžka via the route leading past the Výrovka tourist hut and then past the Luční bouda. Of course, there are many more paths, not only those for walking, but also for cycling and in winter, for cross-country skiing, and everyone will surely choose their own path according to their physical condition.
Sněžka (Polish Śnieżka, German Schneekoppe) is the highest mountain in the Czech Republic with its 1603.30 m above sea level (the previously reported figure of 1602 m above sea level is the height above sea level of the trigonometric point). The top of the mountain is rocky and has an area of around 120,000 m². And since Sněžka is the highest mountain in a wide area, there is an extensive panoramic view from the top.
