Karpathos – Greece

23.7. – 2.8.2013 Greece Karpathos Abroad

After a lot of thinking and deciding where to go on vacation this year, we finally chose the Greek island of Karpathos. A small Mediterranean island located near Crete. And although the date of our vacation was chosen during the main tourist season, on this island it seemed as if there was no season at all. After crowded beaches, a large number of tourists on waterfront promenades or crowded taverns, there are no monuments. Exactly opposite; there were only a few people on most beaches or we were even there alone, many tavernas were half empty and on the roads (if you could even call them roads, especially in some places) you met only a few cars, four-wheelers or mopeds. And that is, was, and maybe for a while will be the main advantage of this island. Tourism here has not yet reached such dimensions as elsewhere. And we liked it all the more and enjoyed it all the more. We had a rental car for a few days, so we traveled the whole island from south to north and from east to west. Karpathos is a very mountainous island with beautiful beaches and clear sea. And it is also said to be a very windy island. However, there was almost no wind for us the entire time, except for a few exposed places open to the landscape. The beaches on this island are amazing, especially those on the east coast, where the sea is calmer, they are really breathtaking. But you can see all this and much more in the attached photos.
