Šumava National Park – Modravské slatě

23.7.2011 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

The Modravské sláte are the largest complex of bogs in Šumava, which is, however, inaccessible to the public. This is the first zone of the National Park, which mainly protects the unique vegetation and fauna here, the endangered grouse, the lynx and the mountain mouse live here. Despite strict measures and the associated ban on entry, the area is criss-crossed by a network of roads and often asphalt roads from the earlier days of the Iron Curtain. The entire complex is divided into smaller bogs.

Individual slats are:

  • Rokytská slať
  • Roklanská slať
  • Přední and Zadní Mlynářská slať
  • Šárecká slať
  • Novohuťské močály
  • Blatenská slať
