Unfinished Church of the Virgin Mary in Panenský Týnec and menhir "Stone Man" near Klobuky

8.2.2020 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

Unfinished Church of the Virgin Mary in Panenský Týnec is an unfinished high Gothic building with a completed Baroque belfry, founded probably in 1316 by Plichta of Žerotín, but after the fire of the neighboring monastery in 1382 the building had to be rebuilt according to modified plans. It was intended in the concept of a three-nave two-towered monastery church. However, only the presbytery and three three-nave vaulted fields with a portal have been preserved to this day. The conceptual belfry comes from a later period. The temple is part of the complex, which is an endangered immovable cultural monument. According to some psychotronics, the temple is built in a strong zone with positive energy. And because of this, it is the most famous monument in the town and is visited by hundreds of people every year; it is also popular as a place for wedding ceremonies.

An alleged prehistoric menhir is the major sight in village Klobuky; with height of 3.3 m (11 ft) the tallest in the Czech Republic. It is an upright, lonely standing stone, called Zkamenělý pastýř ("Shepherd turned-into-stone") or Kamenný muž ("Stone Man"), in a field several hundred meters northwest of the village, close to road towards Telce.
