We have already visited several beautiful European cities in the past years; Berlin was another one this time. A pleasant weekend spent in the capital of Germany thus again expanded the "set" of historical and interesting cities of the "old" continent. Berlin's monuments are largely associated with World War II and the Cold War period ending in 1989, when there were strict political, social and security rules between the western and eastern parts of Berlin and Europe. Every journey between these very different worlds was subject to very strict control and very strict regulations applied to individual journeys. And it is in Berlin that we can find many places and monuments that are related to a given time, or a historically significant date or event.
