Děčínský Sněžník

5.10.2013 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

And again, I have another tip for a nice trip. If the weather is nice, as it was on Saturday 5 October, you can, for example, go to the Děčínský Sněžník area, located near the town of Děčín. The trip is not difficult, but all the more beautiful. When you add to that the clear sky and autumn nature playing with all the colors, it really is a magical place in our republic.

Děčínský Sněžník (German Hoher Schneeberg) (723 m) is a sandstone table mountain rising 7 km northwest of the town of Děčín. It represents the highest peak of the Sněžnická hornatina geomorphological district, the entire Děčínská vrchovina geomorphological unit, as well as the Labská pískovce PLA and the Děčín district. The mountain, made up of Upper Cretaceous Turonian sandstones, is almost entirely wooded, most of its slopes are covered by spruce forests, to a lesser extent pine, larch and beech are found, birches and cranes are also typical for the top part. The top of the mountain is occupied by a vast plateau measuring approximately 1,600 by 600 meters, slightly sloping to the northeast. However, the most important circular viewing point is the 33 m high stone lookout tower from 1864, one of the oldest in the Czech Republic.
