Late autumn in Šumava

17.11.2010 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

Autumn is already in full force, it dawns late, it gets dark early. Slowly but surely, winter is approaching, the temperatures are more and more indicating it. All-day fog accompanies most of today. Such a day was also a public holiday, i.e. also a day off, November 17. Although the conditions were not ideal for an extraordinary trip that day, nor were the conditions for the creation of nice photos of landscapes, on this day a friend and I took a small trip to the Libín lookout and to the Hus castle by the Blanice river.

The Libín Lookout is located in Šumava, on the top of the Libín mountain (1091 m.a.s.l.) above Prachatice. The lookout tower was built in 1883. You can reach its top after climbing 137 steps. From the lookout tower you can see the town of Prachatice and a large part of Šumava, you can also see the Novohradské mountains, the České Budějovice basin and Kleť with the lookout tower and transmitter. It can also be seen in the Písecko, Strakonicko and Brdy. Exceptionally, with good visibility, it is also possible to see the Alps.
