Sázava, Český Šternberk

27.9.2009 Czechia Amazing place of Czechia

Since I spent the whole weekend in Central Bohemia and Sunday's weather, just like the whole weekend, was wonderful and therefore perfect for a trip, I set out through the viewfinder of the camera and not just through it to "discover" the beautiful surroundings of the Sázava River. The leaves on the trees are already brightly colored in beautiful colors at this time, which, together with the occasional rocky outcrops bordering and surrounding the calmly flowing river Sázava, creates a breathtaking scenery of the entire place. The whole valley would be even more beautiful if it weren't for the large number of cottages and cottages. In addition to them, there are also several historical monuments in the Sázava valley, one of which was also our destination.
Český Šternberk has dominated this beautiful landscape, the landscape of the Sázava river, for more than 760 years. It was founded in 1241 by Zdeslav from the Divišov family and named "Šternberk" according to the custom of the time. The name of the castle is derived from the coat of arms of the Divišov family – a golden eight-pointed star. During the entire period, the castle was rebuilt and extended several times. Its early Gothic form can be seen today mainly in the core of the building. The building development thus ranges from late Gothic reconstructions, perfecting the defense system, to lavish early Baroque interior modifications for the purpose of comfortable living. The castle underwent its last major modification in 1751, when the lower lock of the castle near the enclosure wall was completed.
